A photograph of Battleship Row, 8 AM, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dec. 7, 1941. With the attack only approximately five minutes old, the first Japanese torpedoes are finding their mark. Torpedo tracks are visible in the water to the left of the vessels. The USS Nevada is at the lower left, while along up Battleship Row are: the USS Vestal (repair vessel) outboard of the USS Arizona; the USS West Virginia (taking torpedo hits) outboard of the USS Tennessee; the USS Oklahoma (listing from torpedo hits) outboard of the USS Maryland; the USS Neosho (fleet oiler); the USS California (oil spreading from torpedo hits). The battleships moored nearest to Ford Island will soon be under attack by Japanese dive bombers and horizontal bombers.
