Taken from a Japanese airplane early in the attack, the photograph shows rising plumes of water from torpedoes striking the moored battleships alongside Ford Island. Two of the attacking Japanese aircraft are also visible in photograph, one above the stern of the USS California in the center of the photograph, and one at the far right, above the large crane across the harbor from Battleship Row.
