Nose Art and Flak Damage. Black and white photographs of two 8th U.S. Army Air Force B-17's.  The photograph on the left is of the nose art for the B-17G "Bomber Dear", which depicts a pin-up dressed in flight gear riding a bomb. Based on the mission markings along the top of the fuselage, Bomber Dear has completed 42 bombing missions. The swastika denotes one Luftwaffe plane downed by her gunners. The photograph on the right is of a B-17G that took a flak hit on the nose, and still made it back safely. B-17's were known for their ability to absorb incredible battle damage yet still being able to bring their crews home safely. The finished piece measures 12 3/4" x 25 1/2". It is matted in a dark olive green, with a lower light green mat upon which the 8th USAAF Patch is mounted. The frame is black metal (other colors are available. Contact us for info). Please see the "Frame Info" tab for complete information on how we frame our artwork. Item price includes ground shipping to the continental U.S.
